In this series, you’ll get to know the impact makers at MEPD. Each MEPD’er answers three questions. Enjoy!
Meet Anne Makkink; our curious and analytical career advisor, who brings a lot of depth to her conversations.
Who are you and what do you do at MEPD?
Since 2021, I have been guiding people in their development as a career advisor at MEPD. Whether it’s coaching, outplacement, reintegration, or training, I enjoy walking alongside them on their development path. What makes my approach unique? I truly listen to people with curiosity and my analytical perspective helps add more depth to conversations. This often helps people discover more about themselves than they expected.
What has stuck with you the most since working at MEPD and why?
What makes my work so special is that I often meet people during a vulnerable time in their lives. A few years ago, I guided someone who faced obstacles at work and in his personal life. Together, we discovered which job suited him and I was able to help him move forward in a developmental outplacement process. A year later, I received a message: he had a permanent contract and felt completely in the right place. That feeling of impact, the realization that you’ve truly contributed to someone’s life, means a lot to me. That moment reminded me why I love doing this work so much.
MEPD’ers are impact makers;
in what way do you make an impact?
By showing understanding and at the same time encouraging people to take action. I also know from experience how daunting it can be to try new things. I pay a lot of attention to this in my trajectories. What is holding someone back, what can help, and how can we still take small steps. Because I know how much it can bring when you dare to step out of your comfort zone!
