Finding solutions for early retirement

MUP in development

For employees who are close to retirement, finding a new job is often not a given. There are questions about income, benefits, and pension, which makes this phase particularly sensitive.

MEPD offers employers the opportunity to use a special solution: an Employment Contract with Deferred Performance Obligation (MUP), based on a separate b-collective agreement. This allows you to guide employees approaching (early) retirement towards the end of their career in a proper and workable manner. A practical arrangement with consideration for both people and organization. Want to know more?

The benefits of MUP at a glance

  • MEPD offers employment up to the start date of (early) retirement.
  • The employee receives personal guidance and coaching on all matters related to dismissal, such as UWV/WW.
  • The employee receives a fixed income through MEPD, consisting of unemployment benefits plus a supplement.
  • The employee maintains pension accrual based on their full “old” salary and is subject to the CAO Metalektro.
  • Employers can offer their employees a social arrangement, with income security and continued pension accrual.

Can we help your company with the MUP arrangement?

Our approach with MUP

An MEPD advisor discusses the MUP arrangement with the employee. Upon agreement, we wrap up ongoing matters and make arrangements with the employer to establish the MUP employment contract.

Secondment

MEPD can second (temporarily assign) employees to companies in the technical sector. The employee joins MEPD and is then placed. Secondment can be an excellent solution. The employee remains active, keeps their knowledge and skills up to date, and gains experience at different organizations.

Frequently asked questions

Employers in the Metalektro sector can offer employees who are being dismissed and will retire (early) soon an Employment Contract with Deferred Performance Obligation (MUP) through Stichting MEPD.

Stichting MEPD is affiliated with the PME pension fund and follows the CAO Metalektro. After dismissal, the former employee joins MEPD, receives a fixed income, and continues to accrue full pension rights.

MEPD provides employment until the agreed start date of (early) retirement. During this period, the employee receives individual guidance on all matters regarding dismissal and, for example, UWV/WW.

During periods without work, the employee receives an agreed-upon income through MEPD, consisting of unemployment benefits and a supplement.

The employee maintains their pension accrual based on their full “old” salary and is covered by the CAO Metalektro and PME pension fund.

A cost calculation is customized and depends on various factors, including the term of the MUP employment contract, supplement to the unemployment benefit, income level, and possible participation in the generation pact.
