What is a potential assessment?
A potential assessment provides insight into an employee’s (growth) potential, which often coincides with a development assessment. It guides you in determining what could be a suitable position for the future. Through a potential assessment, you gain a better understanding of your employee’s possibilities. Moreover, you can make optimal use of the employee’s potential by leveraging their strengths. Thanks to a well-founded recommendation, you and your employee can map out a concrete plan. Want to conduct a potential assessment as well? MEPD is a professional and highly experienced assessment agency; our specialists are happy to help.
Why use a potential assessment?
By using a potential assessment, you get an answer to the question of at what level and in which direction your employee can develop. This gives you a better understanding of the potential and talent your employee possesses. As a result, you can deploy them in a way that fully suits them and allows them to perform optimally.
For participants, it means they can better direct their own growth path and determine potential limits. Additionally, it provides concrete tools and confidence, something that both participants and their companies can benefit from. Optionally, it can also be used during a selection assessment. In that case, it can be determined whether the potential is present to grow into the intended position.
A potential assessment also answers the following questions:
- The strengths and areas for development of your employee
- A clear picture of your employee’s growth potential
- A better understanding of the talents and potential within your company
What does an assessment day look like?
A potential assessment lasts half a working day, but it can also take a full day if there is an occupational psychological examination involving psychologists and actors. The assessment can be conducted at the MEPD assessment office. This applies to all our assessments. A potential assessment consists of the following components:
1. Employee interview with the advisor
2. Completing cognitive tests
3. Completing a personality traits and personal values test
4. Completing a critical thinking test (for specific management positions)
5. Brief debriefing with the participant with a preliminary general recommendation
