Interview with Mariëlle van der Meché

Mariëlle van der Meché has been working for 4.5 years as an HR advisor at PM Aerotec BV – PM Precision BV: a precision metal manufacturing company for aviation, aerospace, and defense. The company operates from three locations, two in Hengelo and one in Almere. Currently, much is being produced for the military sector. However, due to the coronavirus crisis, the civil aviation branch in Almere is being affected. Three employees have to be let go. One of them is Tamara; she is entering a three-month outplacement program at MEPD West.
MEPD is a well-known partner to me
‘I have known MEPD for years,’ says Mariëlle. ‘We meet each other at networking groups and, when we are looking for new employees, we use MEPD’s temporary staffing arrangements. I know the people at MEPD and have always been very satisfied with them. This is the first time we are using MEPD for outplacement. And again, I have had a positive experience. The process was a bit difficult at first, but by discussing things openly and honestly, it was immediately addressed and adjusted. Every story has two sides.
A pity to say goodbye to a woman in technology
Tamara (32 years old) was a bench worker/mechanic at our Almere location. She had joined us two years earlier. Before that, she was an animal caretaker but couldn’t find work in that field. She was open to being retrained as a bench worker. She liked it very much and had a knack for it! It is a real pity to have to say goodbye to this woman in technology. Things had not been going well in Almere for some time, and everyone was aware of it.
Disappointed yet relieved
The manager had an open conversation with Tamara and explained the situation. She was disappointed, but also relieved that an outplacement program was part of her VSO. We really wanted to help her find a new job; she had earned that. Due to a change in her personal situation, she also wanted to look for another job herself, as the commute became too much for her.
Both happy with the guidance
Joost became her career coach and helped her on her way to a new job. With a good resume and a confident attitude, she went into an interview at a company from her own network. The interview went very well. She started in January! Again at a technical company but in a slightly different role, namely planning and inventory. She is very happy with the guidance from MEPD. And I can only say that I am too!
A partner who thinks along throughout the process
MEPD is a partner who thinks along; the tips we received throughout the entire process were greatly appreciated. If anything arises again in the future, even in terms of development, I will definitely turn to MEPD again,’ says Mariëlle.
