Dismissal impacts people. Not just their work, but also their self-confidence, view of the future, and daily life. That’s why, at MEPD, we never immediately “jump to solutions”. We start with the employee’s story. What does this loss mean to them? What emotions are involved? Where do we need to create space before someone can move forward? Career advisor Yvonne guides you through it.
How do we guide employees respectfully towards a new job?
Losing a job has an impact. That’s why we conduct individual conversations in which we pay attention to the emotions and situation of the employee. What does this dismissal mean for them? What concerns and practical matters need to be addressed first, before they can move on? We offer support where needed and help them gain insight into the next steps. Some want to immediately search for a new job, while others need some time to recover first. Both options are fine: the employee always maintains control over the process.
How do we deal with resistance and emotions surrounding dismissal and outplacement?
Dismissal is a drastic process, and everyone processes it in their own way. One employee experiences more resistance and emotions than another, and that’s completely okay. We provide a safe environment where trust and a good connection are central. We guide employees through the process step by step, keeping in mind the stages of grief and the emotions that come with that. This way, they know they are not alone and we provide the support they need to move forward.
How do we ensure that employees accept the process and approach it motivated?
By letting them feel that they are not alone and boosting their self-confidence. Dismissal is irreversible; it wasn’t the employee’s choice, but it does affect them personally. That takes time and processing. We help them rediscover their qualities and motivations, so they not only see what they have to offer, but can also confidently present it to potential employers.
How do we support managers in having difficult conversations about outplacement?
Managers play a crucial role in the outplacement process, but delivering bad news is not easy. That’s why we offer a practical workshop where they learn how to do this in a respectful and supportive way. We are also present on the day of the dismissal announcement to support employees immediately. This way, they don’t have to deal with the conversation alone and directly receive a contact person and the phone number of a career coach for their questions and concerns.
In short
Respectful outplacement revolves around tailored guidance, where employees feel heard and retain control. By offering a safe environment, working on self-confidence, and supporting managers in their role, we turn a difficult situation into an opportunity for a new future.

What gives me satisfaction is making employees aware of their talents. This allows them to talk about it with enthusiasm once again. I truly believe in everyone’s (resilient) strength! Self-confidence grows and the employee gets into a positive flow again.
