Outplacement process has
enriched me!
Peter immediately makes an impression. A tall man with a boisterous laugh. That laugh isn’t surprising; he has found a job and has come to bring a box of pastries. That’s something we love to see at MEPD! However, behind that big smile lies a serious story.
No need for changes
‘I was working as a Field Service Manager,’ Peter says. An amazing job and I was having a great time. Until the company was taken over. My job changed and I realized, deep down, that I wanted something different. Still, I didn’t consider leaving for a second. My wife had just passed away and I had to deal with a changed home situation, doing everything myself. Add a teenager at home: I actually appreciated that there were no changes at work for a while.
Digging in my heels
Until things really started to get shaky at my employer before the summer. Out of nowhere, I received a poor performance review. I found that so tough. I had never received a negative review in my life. I was advised to take a long vacation. After that, I was offered a termination agreement, including an outplacement process. I dug in my heels. But I soon realized that wouldn’t help me move forward. I started googling outplacement and quickly got the feeling it would be good for me. And that’s how I ended up at MEPD.
Outplacement isn't so bad after all
It only took a few sessions to get me on my way. I was so incredibly driven to find a new job quickly. I was in survival mode; anything to avoid having to ask for help and be dependent. I’m alone and the breadwinner, there is no back-up. Plus, I was worried about how quickly I could land a new job at my age (55). I applied for anything that appealed to me. Through those career sessions, I gained more focus on who I am and where I stand. I had seen an interesting position and was invited for an interview. Another interview and assessment later, I had a contract in hand. I am so incredibly happy!
Enrichment
